1. Lose weight, gain habits. A podcast with a lasting approach.
Fitness coach Amy Lang says in this podcast, "Eat the Rainbow."
That means gobble fruits and vegetables. And once you lose weight under the rainbow have habits in place to stay there a while.
"I'm very much pro habit. Even if you're using Wegovy or Mounjaro or Ozempic, any of those things to lose weight, work on habits," Lang said. At some point you might want to go off those meds, or you don't need them any longer.
On the Optimal Aging Podcast is a lesson for older folks on how not to beat yourself up and build habits from a coach who was body-shamed at 14.
2. Is it close to time for a woman to run her age in the 400?
I've been meaning to post this great story by Dave Albo on men who have run their age in the 400. "It is an athletic achievement only older men can do," Dave says. I love that.
A woman has not done it. Sue McDonald came close in her sensational 2023 season. Karla del Grande came closer, 68 seconds at 66.
Sue is 60 and ran 62.34 in Greensboro last July at the USATF Masters Outdoors. McDonald gets better with age, but she might be 64 by the time she makes it.
