Exercising Your Arm
I couldn’t walk past a pond as a kid without immediately looking down for a flat rock. Are you with me? One of my uncles showed me when I was six years old, or so, what rock to choose and how to grip that flat rock and fling it like a sidearm pitcher in baseball. It became addictive as I pleaded "Just one more." There was pure glee at three skips, or more. Anything less than three skips was the fault of the rock. Is it a lost art? Not for this man.
A ‘Silver Tsunami’
I don’t dance, but I do tap my foot to rock and roll. Tom Petty, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc. My wife, who can dance, just shakes her head at me. Maybe if I was with a crowd of other Geezers I would be “more with it.” Well, if I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, there would be a lively crowd over 65 and I could get in my 8,000 steps with a little more fun. There is a dance club there unofficially called “Geezer Happy Hour.”
Friday nights, September to May the doors swing open and the “silver tsunami” rolls in.The hours are just right for some of us: 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
ICYMI, or maybe Be Glad You Missed It.
This story rocked the world of Pickleball. It exposed the deep dive into competitiveness and money madness of a game Geezer Jocks made relevant in retirement communities. How our game got hijacked by the monied interests of sport. These folks would make an NFL owner blush.
A Sweet Swing At 103
From our friends at Growing Bolder the story of Lindsay Tise, who still golfs at 103 and shoots a score lower than his age with regularity (I’ll be 140 before I’m able to shoot my age). Oh...I have to be breathing. Got it.
