Rest In Peace Mike Fanelli

Some items and quote to look at

1. Mike was a runner and historian

Mike died last Saturday at 67 years old of brain cancer. I wrote this story on him a year ago, which was about the time he was diagnosed.

Many people were unaware of the illness, which was surprising because Mike shared so much of himself.

Geezer Jock feels honored to have talked to him.

Runners World has this story on himand the 4,000 artifacts Mike kept in his garage museum chronicling the history of track & field in the U.S., which includes the program from the first indoor meet in the U.S. in 1868.

2. Cardio and weight training are partners.

You jog and your heart rate gets to 150-170. That's good.

It's not enough. Most of us know you need to add weight training. But how much to get a healthy balance?

This article talks about studies that break down how much weight training goes with your cardio fitness routine. It is well worth the time to read, please.

3. A quote that removes all doubt.
"Movement solves the problems that hand-wringing inaction creates." - John Carlton.
Mike Fanelli after a run.
Mike after beating the great Kenyan Henry Rono.

This Covid thing is slowing down our progress to, once and for all, shuck this knocker of being “doddering.” Our quest to push our expiration dates into the future with some sweat faces a threat.
