1. Why Can't We Stretch? Start Small.
We didn't grow up stretching as kids. We played.
Many of us, these days, still get right to it. We play our game. .
But what about all those hours when we are not doing our thing? We should stretch in that time. The science is out there, needless to say. Here is another link to stretching, but it talks about building a habit 30 seconds at a time.
This is your mother speaking. Stretch.
2. "Why Was I Still Alive?"
The doctors asked Mr. Seals this: Why was he alive? The man had undergone three heart surgeries, one before 50, because of poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle.
He bought a bike. That's how is he is alive.
His son, a filmmaker, made a documentary of their 300+-mile bike trip from Chicago to St. Louis. Everything you know to be true about lifestyle and health outcomes is in this project. The dad is 70. The son is 35.
It's not a video. It's a story. Bike Vessel.
3. A Statistic From Growing Bolder/U.S. Census... And A Question From Geezer Jock.
"There were 90,000 centenarians in the U.S. in 2020. Conservative projections say by 2060 there will be over 600,000, and over 19 million people who are 85 and older. There is an unprecedented demographic change now underway."
That's it. That's all I got on this.
Except...do you buy it? Big food, big pharma, middlemen in healthcare, the price of land, erratic decision making by policy leaders, and regulations against building enough homes make me think all of our fitness ambition is hitting a brick wall.
