Stories You Want To Check Out

1.

Not Quite A Geezer Jock. Applaud Anyway.

Gary McKee, 53, ran a marathon every day of the year in 2022. That's about 9,600 miles.

He ran in the rain and the heat and the cold. McKee lost 42 pounds. There must be an easier way to lose weight, but that's not why he ran. A cool story about being nice.

Here is a link to his story.

 2. This Is An Idea. Gather Friends And Make It A Relay.

The team name, Thrashers, suggests they don't know the first thing about a steady stroke in the water. On the contrary, the lead Thrasher, Brian Crane, makes his way nicely through the chilly waters of Lake Tahoe.

Crane is part of a crew of friends who swim the lake every year in a relay race. He trains for his leg of the relay by getting up at 5 a.m. during the week.

This is some crew of friends and an idea how partnerships can spur exercise.

3.

How To Get Up Early And Exercise

Many of you, not me, are retired and can exercise any time. But what about the rest of you who have to work?

Here is a gift article from The New York Times on conditioning yourself to get cracking early...if you want.

4.

Not A Typical Geezer Jock Story, But Nonetheless Crummy

The kinds of people who run these scams should be made to settle across town from the retirees they fleece, wear a ball-and-chain, and work at an Amazon distribution center. Their paycheck goes to the retiree.

How about just make them stand in the bread line at the local charity with the people they fleeced? Then give them a free ride. To a cell. For 5 years, or until they figure out how to pay the money back.

Better, we should warn each other about these scams?
