Kay Glynn and her 2022 Christmas card. Just amazing. She is a bonafide freak at 69. Thank you, Kay. Photo by Mike Glynn.
More past Kay Christmas cards are at the bottom of this email. She is an amazing athlete, especially in the jumps. This is the kind of spirit that resonates throughout the Geezer Jock community.
Speaking of which, if you need a Christmas gift for an older amazing athlete, please take a look at the Geezer Jock store. It's not too late for a tee-shirt, or hat.
I think the tee-shirts are a swell deal. The print-on-demand company said I should charge $24, but I dropped it to $19.
I am grateful for those who buy and support Geezer Jock.
I am reminded often of a saying from the late, great Bill Veeck, a Hall of Famer when it came to selling the game of baseball:
"If you're not buying what I'm selling, it's my fault not yours."
I lived by that saying for years with my freelance journalism business. Don't make it personal. People have their reasons for not giving you money. Control what you can control, which is to over-exceed expectations.
I am always free to get into another line of work.
I have another favorite saying. This is 1A behind Bill:
"The money others give me is in relation to how much value I give them."
I am determined to make this newsletter self-sufficient by selling merch and getting contributions. I am even more determined to try and give readers some useful information in order to get that support.
I have 654 subscribers. My goal is 3,000 subscribers and maybe $15 a year from each. I would have 900 subscribers, but I purged the list of people who had not opened in months. My fault, not theirs. The open rate of the email is 58.69 percent, which is good, actually above average.
Thank you for the support.
Now, more Kay.
