Her Facebook handle, or nom de guerre, is MzIndia Bzz and India Bridgette, 62, created a buzz at the Penn Relays April 25-27 when she ran 13.66 in the 100 without starting blocks. That is good for No. 1 in the U.S. for Women 60-64.
India set the American record in the 100 (W60-64) two years ago with a 13.64. That mark still stands. What is impressive is Bridgette is not far off that mark and it is still early in the 2024 outdoor season.
Geezer Jock will talk to India next week about the training it takes to stay at a high level two years into an age cohort, in this case 60-64.
What might have been more impressive is that India was pulled into the 4x100 relay for women 40+. She ran the third leg in a gold medal win for that team.
