World champion cyclist Woody Cox, 71, has downshifted to Zone 2 training. Geezer Jock wanted to post again about Zone 2 with links for those among us who have trouble letting off the gas.

Think about these two things:
1) "The average runner runs too fast on their slow days and too slow on their fast days. They think they need to push hard to build endurance. They think they need to feel exhausted or stressed at the end of a long run. This isn’t true."
2) "Many of us want to improve our athletic fitness, endurance, and performance. Face it, we also want to live longer, and with fewer health problems. That’s where Zone 2 training comes into play. Zone 2 training involves training at a lower intensity for a longer period of time."
Here is a very useful link from Dr. Howard Luks, the author of those two observations above.
Here is a link to the story on Woody in Geezer Jock, in case you missed it.
And I wanted to post again this well-written story from GQ on Zone 2 training. This is the link.
Geezer Jock is FREE. Please consider supporting me because there is value in storytelling. I have been telling stories for 48 years for newspapers and magazines and websites worldwide. I'm finally halfway decent at it. As always, "If you're not buying what I'm selling, it's my fault not yours."
